ℹ️ Customer Advisory: Temporary Rail Closure – Port of Hamburg
From July 4 to July 8, 2025, the rail link to Hamburg-Waltershof will be completely closed due to infrastructure works. This affects rail access to the CTA, CTB, and Eurogate terminals and will significantly impact container transport logistics.
🔧 What does this mean?
No rail freight transport in the western port area
Delays and congestion expected even before the closure
Increased reliance on trucking, limited capacity likely
Timely availability and vessel cut-offs may not be guaranteed
Temporary surcharges may apply if additional efforts are required
Storage & Demurrage costs for import shipments
Severe disruptions to hinterland transportation are expected in advance and are likely to continue for an indefinite period even after the closure
